ToolsTK is a collection of tools, gizmos, tutorials and best practices I developed during my career as a compositor.
Some of the tools I developed are extremely niched and developed for a specific pipeline, so it would be hard to share those without sharing part of the pipeline. But some of these tools I was able to separate and they are very useful not only for a stop motion compositing, but for any compositor in a visual effects industry.
Quite often tools and inventions you do while employed at the company are company’s property. This was a my case as well, but I was able to achieve an agreement with the company allowing me to separate some of my tools from the company’s pipeline which allows me to share it now with a wider audience and a growing pool of the new artists.
One of my first tools – despillTK I made in early 2013. Since then this tools seen multiple reworks and improvements and now in it’s fifth generation. DespillTK is only one of the tools in this pack and there is so much more. Here I will be sharing with you my whole toolset that I built over time since 2013 and use daily in my compositing work.
These tools are designed to allow for better control, speed and efficiency at tasks compositors perform every day. I will be sharing my knowledge as well in a form of the tutorials and quick tips.
Depending where you are in your career these might be invaluable for you not only for a daily use, but to see and learn how are tools and templates are made so you can create your own tools.
I really enjoy creating new techniques and tools in Nuke, tinkering with it’s nodes and parameters, but unlike playing with tools, creating documentation and supporting online tools turned out to be a real time sink and a lot of work. Initially I shared my tools on the Nukepedia, but growing amount of work to reply to messages and support my tools lead me to idea that I should try to create a better support and documentation accessible by everyone.
I’m doing all of this in my spare time and in hope to create a better support decided to try and seek help from my community. By joining Parteon or donating some money on Gumroad you are supporting future growth and development of this toolset and collection of templates and tutorials. This work is entirely community supported and I appreciate your support of this project.
